Everytime I purchase a laptop memory (which I often due since it is a sideline that I fix and upgrade computers), I always made sure to buy an original branded module as I this was the guaranteed ones to work in a computer system although financially, it might be a constraint also. However, there are now so many generic brands that do work for any type of computer system so I guess I also do purchase them from time to time especially when budget is concerned. The Dell memory that was so expensive back then can now be brought at lower prices due to this development. Even the exclusive Mac memory are sold now at lower prices so I guess this is a good thing also for consumers around the world that generic modules can now be used in place of these original ram modules.
